Surprised by my own surprise at having never seen a Star Wars valentine until the amazing Jabba the Hutt one I posted earlier, I decided to make my own. Not because I like valentines day (obviously I don’t), nor because of my love for Star Wars (which at this point is almost entirely nostalgia based), but because this day always reminds me of how superficially most people think of love or romance. People don’t need a special day to acknowledge it, and combining empty words with random pop culture that the giver associates with the receiver is like giving someone a physical totem saying: “I am sort of shallow and uninterested in your character.” Just so that I’m not being totally negative, I should point out that without the consumerism driven pressure to get laid or whatever, a day to be cute towards the people around you is a pretty nice idea: enter Boba Fett.
